Mothers can be anyone.
That older sister who brought you up. That special Aunty. Even Nosy Rosie next door who kept an eye on you as you grew up, all qualify.
So continuing on the history of Mothering Sunday, this same day too was known as Harvest Sunday. The 1 day in Lent when fasting rules were relaxed in honor of the 'Feeding of the 5000'.
People, take her to eat.
Fish would be good.
A glass or 2 of Jungle Joe even better. Not for the saved according to Fernando Castellon in his award winning book Larousse Cocktails [thanks Joy], Jungle Joe is a Cocktail made and wait for it...5-6 ice cubes, 3 1/2 measures full-fat Milk and the clincher, 1 measure Vodka, 1/4 measure Creme de Banane.
Now on to the food and great places to literally catch it to make that special day even better. Warning, your pocket will be dented.
In Karen Talisman has a wicked Dynamite Roll, featuring cooked Salmon, Avacado and Chilli Sushi rolls, with Ginger, Soy Sauce and Wasabi paste. Tokyo too has a great Sea Food selection.
The ambience and menu over at Zen Garden in Lower Kabete stands in good stead too.
